Book now for hospice Christmas tree collection

December 16

St. Joseph’s Hospice, in Thornton, is offering Christmas tree collections to residents in Waterloo, Crosby, Thornton, Hightown, Formby, Maghull, Aintree, Bootle, Litherland and Netherton in January.

The hospice has extended the number of postcode areas it will collect from this year and hopes that the local community will register their trees and help it raise important funds for local hospice care.

Hospice volunteers will be out in force collecting real Christmas trees on 9th and 10th January for a suggested donation of £10. Christmas trees can also be taken to the hospice, on Ince Road in Thornton, over the same weekend for a suggested donation of just £5.

The collections are run entirely by volunteers in partnership with Just Helping, a UK charity which inspires people to contribute to their local community. The scheme raises valuable funds for the hospice each year. It is also an environmentally friendly way to dispose of your tree as it will be recycled and used in the hospice grounds.

Zoe Furnivall, fundraiser at St. Joseph’s Hospice, said: “We will be collecting trees from a much wider area this year but this also means that we need your help. We are appealing to anyone with their own van who would like to volunteer for a few hours over the weekend 9th and 10th January. We will provide hot drinks and bacon rolls to keep you going. It’s always a fun weekend and it’s a great way to kick off the new year as you will be helping to raise money for local hospice care.”

To register your tree for collection, please visit www.charityxmastreecollection.com and enter your postcode to register your tree on the St. Joseph’s Hospice page (postcode areas L9, L10, L20, L21, L22, L23, L30, L31, L37 and L38 only). Registrations close on Wednesday 6th January or earlier if we reach capacity in your postcode area.
