Volunteers needed in Ormskirk and Southport

October 25

St. joseph's Hospice (Jospice) is always on the lookout for volunteers to help support its valuable work in caring for local people with a wide range of life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families.

The hospice is currently on the lookout for new volunteers, who can spare a few hours a week, to volunteer at its shops on Burscough Street in Ormskirk and on Lord Street in Southport.

Elaine Fayer and Diane Donaldson have been volunteering in the hospice’s shops since 2005. “I really enjoy helping to make money for the hospice and meeting new people and customers” said Diane.

Elaine added: “I love sorting through all the donations. We find some really interesting things and I enjoy seeing things that I remember from years ago.”

Siobhan Clinton, Volunteer Co-ordinator at St. Joseph’s Hospice, said: “We are on the lookout for anyone who can spare a little time to help out at our shops in Ormskirk and Southport.

“They are really friendly place to be and volunteering is a great way to meet new people while supporting the hospice at the same time and all training is provided.

“A typical shift in one of our shops is four hours, either morning or afternoon, although we are flexible to suit the availability of our volunteers so it’s always worth getting in touch if you’d like to help and we can discuss the most suitable role to fit in with your availability.”
