Great Wall of China facts:

The Great Wall of China is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is the longest structure ever built on earth at almost 4,000 miles long. But, rather than being one long continuous wall, it is actually made up of a number of different sections. If you measure all the different sections, its length is actually more like 13,000 miles, equal to half the length of the equator!

The wall is 2,700 years old and was originally built as a huge military line of defence. The different sections were built by various dynasties over a long period of time from stone and other materials.

Today, the Great Wall of China is a unique world heritage site and a symbol of China which attracts over 50 million visitors every year.
