Trusts and Foundations

Grants from charitable trusts and foundations are essential to the establishment, continuation and growth of St. Joseph’s Hospice.

During this very difficult year, we have been particularly grateful for the support of charitable trusts and foundations. Trust donors can and have supported many aspects of our operations and have been extremely helpful during the Covid -19 pandemic when they have funded vital personal protective equipment for the safety of staff and patients.

Our main need is for unrestricted core funding, which is our day to day running costs and includes the cost of our clinical and support staff who provide care and comfort to our patients. In addition to core funding, we have an exciting range of funding opportunities for capital items, development work and one-off projects. Whether general or restricted, a grant or donation can make a tangible difference to the services and facilities we provide and, ultimately, to the patients and families that we support.

We have a wide range of areas that can be supported via grants and we are always keen to talk to new trusts about the opportunities that exist at St Joseph’s Hospice. If you require further information, or if you have any connections with trusts we would be delighted to hear from you.

Here are some of the ways in which a grant could help us:

• Capital funding towards building projects
• New website
• Funding a staff roles

Grants awarded in 2020

A huge thank you to current funders who have helped to maintain the quality of our services by funding PPE including gloves, masks and aprons. This funding has enabled us to replace much needed equipment on our wards, such as air mattresses, syringe drivers and bedding. We have been able to refurbish a new reception area and replace the flooring in St Frances House. Funding has also helped to improve the quality of our service via staff training, wellbeing support and dementia friendly staff badges.
