Our care is nurse-led and our nurses and care assistants develop specialised skills through training and experience. We provide the wider support essential in offering end-of-life care: most of our patients transfer to the care of local G.Ps. who have a special interest in palliative care, our patients receives bereavement support, chaplaincy, and complementary therapy.
Who all work closely with our catering, laundry and domestic staff ensuring that the patients and their families needs are central to all we do.
We provide 24-hour in-patient nursing or palliative care for adults. We have particular expertise in caring for terminally ill patients and people with long-term degenerative or disabling conditions.
We have a special concern for patients who do not require hospital treatment but who, for whatever reason, cannot be nursed at home. We also offer respite care to help terminally ill patients and their carers.
We seek to provide high quality professional care, led by skilled nurses, in a welcoming, homely, informal and peaceful environment. Our aim is to enable patients to feel at ease and comfortable, and to give them as much control as possible of how they live and how their condition is managed.
We aim to care, welcome and support not only the patient but also their families and carers, and to involve them in the life of Jospice and the care of the patient. We recognise and respond to the combination of physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of each patient, and give special attention to those who we accompany through the last stages of their lives.
The emphasis here at St Joseph's is to try and provide a caring environment with as homely an atmosphere as is possible. We are here to meet your needs, not for you to fit into our routine!
