Corporate Leaflet
St Joseph's Hospice or Jospice as it is known around Merseyside is on of the oldest hospices in the country. Founded by a Missionary priest Father Francis O'Leary, our charity opened hospices in several countries in South America during the 1960's and 70's in the name of Jospice International. Then in 1974 the doors of the hospice in Thornton, near Crosby were opened. We can care for up to 25 terminally ill local people and their families at our hospice. It is very much a local hospice caring for the people of Merseyside. The support of the local community including businesses and companies is very important to us and so vital.
Adopting Jospice as your Charity of the Year
Many companies and businesses are often swamped with requests to support a range of charities, and sometimes it can be difficult to choose. That is why some companies decide to adopt just one local charity for a year and focus their efforts on supporting that charity. Jospice has a very excellent reputation within the local community as a provider of care services to local terminally ill people, and is seen as one of Liverpool's favourite charities. Adopting a charity of the year is a great way to get all your staff working together towards one objective, and the money that you raise throughout the year can make a huge difference to our work. We hope that your company will be interested in choosing Jospice as its charity of the year. If you do you will deal directly with one person in the fundraising team, very often the director, who will help you as much as possible to support your staff and activities. They will build a relationship with the person nominated in your company to lead the fundraising. We are more than happy to come and speak to your staff, about how Jospice benefits the community, or a member of your staff can visit the hospice. In this way, they will know exactly how the money they raise is being used to benefit patient care. Jospice has been offering care for so many years that it is possible that some of your staff may have touched by the care we offer. Jospice is delighted that such a diverse range of companies support them already, please think about joining them.
Sponsorship
Throughout the year, Jospice organises a number of events which you can put your name to, helping us raise more money for our work, and generating publicity and brand awareness for your company. Recently Medicash Health care sponsored our Ladies Midnight Walk. Head of marketing Peter Lauris said We are delighted support the Ladies Midnight Walk for Jospice, as it is a charity close to everyone's heart, and provides a much needed service in health care to the people of Liverpool Maghull Developments Ltd have sponsored the Light up a Life Appeal for a number of year's. Michael Hanlon director said We have supported the Jospice Light up a Life appeal for a number of year's now, and know is a very positive appeal that the hospice runs to raise funds, but also means so much to so many people. Your sponsorship will be dealt with by the director of fundraising who has many years experience of working with companies in this way. We see sponsorship as a two way relationship whereby both parties will benefit. By supporting a Jospice event, you will be showing the local community your positive support of a local charity. For information about sponsoring one of our events telephone 0151 924 3812
Give as you Earn GAYE
Enables employees to donate a small amount of money to Jospice every month directly from their salary - many who donate in this way don't even miss the money and are delighted that the tax man even contributes a donation as well. If your salary is paid under PAYE you can donate via GAYE. For every pound you donate, it will only actually cost you 78p as the tax man throws in the extra 22p. So a monthly donation of £5 will only actually cost you £3.90 but Jospice will actually receive the full £5. Once this is set up, you don't have to do anything else. If you have any questions at all on GAYE please phone us on 0151 924 3812.
Donation of a Gift in Kind
Very often when a shop or business donates a "Gift in Kind" it can save Jospice a great deal of money. It can often mean we do not have to buy certain items, or the gift can be used as a raffle prize there generating more funds for our work. For example many supermarkets and shops donate items such as wine, spirits or chocolates that we can raffle. We have had donations of numerous boxes of mince pies and coffee that are much appreciated by everybody who attends our Light up a Life service. We have had the use of an apartment in Spain for a week donated that we have auctioned at a dinner. If your company or business has goods to donate, please email us at enquiries@jospice.org.uk
