– We wish to convert a large meeting room into two large en suite single bedrooms.
Thereby increasing the total number of beds we have at the hospice.
– We wish to convert the large room on the ground floor of the Academy building into eight en suite single bedrooms. With ten new single bedrooms we will be able to cease using six beds in hard-to-reach double rooms. The above work would therefore increase our capacity from 25 to 29 beds, and enable us to care for over 40 extra patients each year.
– We wish to completely renew the old heating system in our original hospice building.
– We wish to build a new larger reception area in the Academy building, thereby giving extra office space for family meetings with doctors and other clinical staff. This will also enhance the front area of the building.
– We wish to renew the windows and doors in the extension in the original building, from the old wooden framed ones, to double glazed.
– We would like to create a small prayer room in our Academy building for use by patients and their families.
– We wish to renew some furnishings within the hospice buildings such as carpeting, soft furnishing, and also renew vital pieces of medical equipment such as extra beds for the new rooms and hoists.
– We would like to send a container of donated goods, mainly equipment and clothing to our hospice in Honduras.
We need your help!
Doing all this work over the next couple of years will enhance and improve our facilities and enable us to go forward into the second half of our century with confidence.
How much will it cost - £1 million
Yes, one million pound will cover the cost of all this work, and assist us to continue our work for another half century - Every donation counts. This money will be in addition to the £40,000 that Jospice requires each and every week to maintain the high quality care given to patients.
We are looking for local companies and individuals to support us. Would you nominate us as your charity of the year? Hold an event to raise funds for Jospice Golden Jubilee Appeal? Raise sponsorship for an activity that you are doing? Consider a monthly donation to Jospice.
However – the good news is that we have been awarded a grant of £600,000 from the Department of Health towards this work, thus giving us a very good start towards our appeal.
What’s in it for you?
You will be supporting a local worthwhile charity, and making a difference in your local community
