Accommodation

Individuals of all faiths and none are cared for by Jospice. Patient rooms are in both the Academy and San Jose buildings:

San Jose

5 single rooms and 12 beds in twin rooms over two floors with nurses' stations on both floors; access to the upper floor is assisted by a lift.

Patients are encouraged to use the communal dining room and lounge.

Academy

8 single en-suite rooms, a nurses' station and the Director of Clinical Services office are on the upper floor accessed by a lift, the rooms in this area are placed around a private chapel. The dining room is available for patients and their families.

We may not be able to accommodate a choice of building or whether a single or double room is available.

The Kitchen

Our catering manager talks to each patient to ensure any particular likes or dislikes are accounted for to tempt small [or large] appetites.

The Laundry

While we cannot accept responsibility for any damage to clothing laundered on the premises our laundry will wash and iron all personal clothing.

Recently St Joseph's Hospice received a rating from a Commission for Social Care Inspection.

So what does this mean?

The Commission want to be able to tell people simply and clearly how well a registered service is doing against national standards. So they have introduced quality ratings to indicate whether a care home or care service is 'excellent', 'good', 'adequate' or 'poor'.
Following a key inspection for a care service they will award stars to show how good they are. The more stars given, the better they think the facility is.
So if the commission give:
3 stars - this means it is excellent
2 stars - this means it is good
1 stars - this means it is adequate
0 stars - this means it is poor.

Following on from a recent inspection St Josephs Hospice received a fantastic 3 stars.

Comments on Jospice

Sister of a patient
"My sister was very special to us and we were very close, I will miss her terribly but I am comforted by the dignity and real love and caring from everyone at Jospice"

Daughter of a patient
"Mum could not have been in more caring hands and was herself full of praise for her nurses and carers. You are all without exception, not forgetting the two doctors who tended mum, deserving of the highest praise."

Granddaughter of a patient
"Just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you all so very much for the most excellent care and tenderness you have shown to my nan. I'm so thankful that my nan ended up where she did. Even when just visiting it always feels like such a serene and safe environment"

Nurse Link Tutor Edge Hill University
"I have just received 3 evaluations from students in April. These are the best I have ever seen. Excellent in all categories!! Well done, please convey to your staff my thanks and congratulations!"

Comment from Jacinta Cannon - Clinical Director

This is a fantastic achievement and is down to staff in all areas, ensuring that the care our doctors, nurses and care assistants give to patients is the absolute best and we can't do that without the support of the admin/fundraising/catering teams as well. Well done to everyone and thank you to one and all for your hard work and dedication.
