Local solicitor supports hospice Will Month

This May, the St. Joseph’s Hospice Will Month will be a little different to previous years due to the current restrictions in place but, thanks to one local solicitor, the annual campaign is going full steam ahead.

McClure Solicitors, based in Liverpool and Southport, is giving up its time freely during May and redirecting 100% of all donations to the hospice.

This is great news for the hospice with so many of its fundraising events cancelled so the hospice is asking anyone who is considering writing or updating their Will to support its Will Month and help the hospice to raise vital funds during this challenging time.

Maxine Armstrong, head of fundraising at St. Joseph’s Hospice, said: “Our annual Will Month is incredibly valuable to the hospice as every donation we receive helps us to provide compassionate end of life care free of charge to our patients and comfort and support to their loved ones. It’s the perfect way of showing your support for the hospice and getting your affairs sorted at the same time.”

Wills are incredibly valuable. They ensure that you decide what happens to your personal possessions. Wills can also prevent disagreements about who inherits what from your estate. Plus, if you live with a partner, but you’re not married, you can ensure that they, and any children, are adequately provided for.

Wills also help with tax planning and help to avoid or reduce inheritance tax. They can also provide a way for you to continue helping charities and good causes that you support during your lifetime.

Due to the situation with Covid-19, all appointments with McClure Solicitors will be conducted by telephone appointment or video appointment over Skype, Zoom or WhatsApp.

Andrew Robertson, Managing Director of McClure Solicitors, said: “We are proud to support St. Joseph’s Hospice through its Will Month and have done for many years now.

“Wills are a really important way of ensuring that those who you wish to benefit from your estate actually do. It’s actually a very straightforward process and this year, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, we are conducting all appointments over the phone or via video call so you can still get your affairs in order while you stay safe at home.

“We will donate 100% of all the donations we receive for the St. Joseph’s Hospice Will Month to the hospice so it’s a fantastic way to support an important local charity and we hope lots of people will get on board and book an appointment to get their Will written or updated this coming May.”
