About St Joseph’s Hospice:
St Joseph's Hospice is one of the oldest hospices in the country, our UK service opened in Thornton in 1974 and now each year we provide care and support to over 200 people with life limiting conditions from within the West Lancashire, Sefton, Liverpool and Knowsley areas. The hospice is set in 12 acres of tranquil woodland.

The hospice has 31 patient rooms, split across 3 units, providing high quality, end of life care. Our nurse-led service helps create a home from home environment for our patients and provides ongoing support to their families. Clinical activity is supported by our in-house Non-Medical Prescriber nurse, a visiting GP and a local network of specialist clinical support.

At St Joseph’s Hospice we feel it is a privilege to have the opportunity to look after patients and families at the end of their lives.

As a Registered Nurse, no two shifts are ever the same. Whilst on duty, you will lead the activities of a unit of up to 11 patient beds and be responsible for delivering high standard of patient care, with a team of Healthcare Assistants. On days, each unit is staffed by a Registered Nurse and 2-3 Healthcare Assistants. This works out as approximate 1:3 staff to patient ratio giving our staff the opportunity to develop a real nurse/patient rapport and provide holistic care.

Staff are supported and led by the Clinical Management Team .

What we’re looking for:
We are now looking to recruit compassionate, caring Registered Nurses who are committed to providing high quality care to patients and their families and be part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The successful candidate will have experience of:
• Working with patients at end of life
• Possess sound communication and have a compassionate approach in their work
• Having a commitment to the provision of excellent care and delivering high standards at all times.

If you haven’t worked in a hospice setting before, that is fine. We are looking for candidates with a passion for end of life care that have a broad range of nursing skills and backgrounds, that we can add to our existing expertise.

Additional information:
Paid annual leave (pro rata), access to an Employee Assistance Programme, paid breaks, free meal whilst on duty and free onsite parking. Overtime paid at an enhanced rate

The posts will be subject to Enhanced DBS clearance.
