How our care is funded

St. Joseph's Hospice receives no grant from the NHS or local authority.

The hospice does receive some funding from the Clinical Commissioning Group whenever a patient is admitted . This covers approximately 35 - 40% of the cost of their care, with the balance coming from our charitable funds. No patient is required to pay any contribution to the cost of their care.

How we fundraise

St. Joseph's Hospice is a registered charity and we don’t charge for the care we provide. Instead, we rely on our local community and businesses to support us. This support is vital as it costs over £3 million every year, or £8,750 a day, to keep St. Joseph’s Hospice running.

The hospice also relies heavily on local people helping as volunteers – working in our charity shops, maintaining our grounds, helping with fundraising and supporting our nursing team.
